Professional Training

Jane Doe strongly believes strongly in collaboration between the different professions that work in the overall realm of sexual violence, including domestic violence and child abuse. We develop one-of-a-kind programs when we see legal needs among the social, legal, and medical professions.

All professional workshops include handouts, resource materials, and Q&A sessions with a licensed attorney.

Ask A Lawyer

Mental health professionals including therapists, coaches, and case workers interact with sexual abuse survivors on a regular basis. This means that they are faced with questions about how the legal system works and what options a survivor has at all phases of the crime, from initial disclosure to long after the fact. One of the scariest and confusing things is when a survivor asks a mental health professional for a letter to the judge, verifying that the crime actually took place.

The Ask A Lawyer Workshop Series focuses on a mental health professional’s role in family court. These continuing education workshops allow therapists, coaches, and case workers to understand the legal process and draw a clear line between how they can help their clients and what is considered legal advice.

Individual Ask A Lawyer workshops are available for workplace collaborations and other professional development events. To browse the list of available workshops, please CLICK HERE.

The Ask A Lawyer Semi-Annual Conference allows you to mix and mingle with colleagues during an intensive day of legal training. Spring conferences each year in April focus on legal issues that come up in the course of working with adults in coaching, mental health, and court advocacy settings. Fall conferences each year in October focus on legal issues that come up in the course of working with minors from young children to teenagers.
